On June 14-15-16, Ho Chi Minh City Securities Corporation (HSC) successfully organized the Emerging Vietnam 2023 investment conference at Le Meridien Saigon hotel. This is the 9th annual consecutive event organized by HSC with the aim of bridging the gap between leading Vietnamese businesses and the international investment community.
Mr. Trinh Hoai Giang - CEO of HSC delivered the opening speech of Emerging Vietnam 2023
Emerging Vietnam 2023 attracted the participation of 40 corporates and more than 500 investors from different countries and territories, including Vietnam, the United States, Hong Kong, South Korea, and several European Union countries. The event brought together a team of top-notch speakers and experts, featuring 18 presentations and panel discussions on various sectors of the economy, creating a diverse and enriching forum.
The event’s theme this year was "Navigating climate change in the capital market," focusing on discussing the disruptive changes in the financial markets, from influx of cheap money to liquidity dry-ups as the result of hiking interest rates, from inflations heating up to recession looming large. These fluctuations were no different than nature’s floodings, droughts, or rising temperatures, brought about by climate change. Speakers and experts exchanged views on adapting to and guiding the financial market in this context.
Ms. Tran Huong My - Director, Head of HSC Consumer Research and Guest Speakers at Emerging Vietnam 2023
The conference provided a comprehensive overview of key sectors in the economy, including macroeconomics, public investment, securities, banking, real estate, manufacturing, consumer goods, technology, aviation and tourism etc. Particularly, the event emphasized the role of digital transformation and its impact on the economy. In 2022, Vietnam's capital market has faced significant uncertainties, which exposed weaknesses and pre-existing gaps, however, HSC and experts maintained an optimistic outlook and believed that the worst was behind us, and the market would continue to grow.
Mr. Stephen McKeever, HSC Managing director, Head of Institutional Divvision, discussed with guests about investors' perspectives after 2 days of listening to multidisciplinary high-level discussions at the conference.
In addition to the presentations and panel discussions, the Emerging Vietnam 2023 event offered investors the chance to engage in direct one-on-one meetings with company representatives. This unique aspect of the event, organized by HSC, garnered considerable interest from investors. These meetings provided businesses with the opportunity to directly showcase investment prospects and the potential of their enterprises.
Furthermore, foreign investors also had the opportunity to conduct on-site visits through three themed tours: Consumer Goods: Masan, Vinasoy factories, Mobile World, PNJ stores; Real Estate Projects from major investors such as Khang Dien, Nam Long, and IDC industrial parks; Technology: FPT Software office, CMC Data Center, VNG Campus, MoMo office, VNPAY. These tours provided investors with a realistic view of the production and operations of the businesses they are interested in.
Emerging Vietnam 2023 wrapped up as a resounding success. With the aim of spreading information and fostering connections, the event created numerous opportunities for collaboration and exchange between businesses and international investors. Over the course of its nine-year history, Emerging Vietnam has become one of the prominent events in the Vietnamese financial market and a reputable forum for foreign investors seeking investment opportunities in the promising Vietnamese market.
